About Char Dham Yatra

Char Dham Yatra is the most sacred pilgrimage circuit of Uttarakhand and one of the most important Yatras of Hinduism. Located in the Garhwal Himalayas, the Yatra covers four holy shrines — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath — at altitudes between roughly 10,000 and 11,755 ft, over 8 Nights / 9 Days from Haridwar to Haridwar.

Highlights
  • 4 Sacred Dhams — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath
  • 5 Prayag Sangams
  • Surya Kund, Yamunotri
  • Bhagirathi River origin, Gangotri
  • Kedarnath Jyotirlinga darshan
  • Tapt Kund hot spring, Badrinath
  • Mana Village — the last village of India
  • Ganga & Yamuna river origins
Why this trip
All four Dhams in one circuit

Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath — the four shrines together believed to lead to Moksha — are covered end to end in a single 8N/9D departure from Haridwar.

Built for families and first-time yatris

Easy to moderate by road, with pony, palki, doli and helicopter options available at Yamunotri and Kedarnath for those who can't trek. Many yatris above 70 complete it every year.

One of the fastest complete circuits

8 Nights / 9 Days is the fastest way to cover all four Dhams without dropping a shrine.

Places you will see
Yamunotri: The westernmost Dham at 10,804 ft, reached by a 6 km trek each way from Janki Chatti. Surya Kund's hot spring sits beside the temple — a dip here is believed to protect against untimely death.
Gangotri: The origin of the Bhagirathi River at 10,055 ft, reached entirely by road through the Harsil Valley — no trek required. The temple stands right beside the river.
Kedarnath: The soul of the Yatra and one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, at 11,755 ft — reached by a 16 km trek each way from Gaurikund.
Badrinath: The abode of Lord Vishnu at 10,170 ft, between the Nar and Narayan peaks. Includes a bath at the Tapt Kund hot spring and a visit to Mana Village, the last village of India.
  • Route: Haridwar → Barkot → Yamunotri → Uttarkashi → Gangotri → Sonprayag → Kedarnath → Badrinath → Haridwar
  • Distance: ~1,550 km by road + 44 km trek (12 km Yamunotri + 32 km Kedarnath round trip)
  • Best season: May–June and September–October
  • Winter: closed November to April — idols moved to their winter abodes
  • Monsoon: July–August is a landslide-prone stretch of road and is best avoided

Ideal for: Family, senior citizens, couples, first-time yatris and anyone on a Moksha Yatra.

All four temples close from November to April due to heavy snowfall, when the idols are moved to their winter abodes — Yamunotri to Kharsali, Gangotri to Mukhba, Kedarnath to Ukhimath and Badrinath to Joshimath. July–August falls in the monsoon and is a landslide-prone stretch of road in Uttarakhand, best avoided. Char Dham registration and e-pass assistance is arranged for you as part of this package, but you must carry your Aadhaar Card.
